One of my voted top Cybersecurity startup clients to work for the last 3years is looking to hire their first federal sales leader. 

As Director Federal Sales, you will create and implement a strategic sales plan to grow revenue and market share within federal government agencies. This role needs a skilled player/ coach sales leader with extensive knowledge of federal procurement, a strong network within federal agencies, and a demonstrated track record of success in software sales. 

This role will be the first Federal Sales hire for them with the intent of being capable of leading a sales team in the future. In the immediate, you will be tasked with building pipeline and closing deals independently. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy for federal sales. 
  • Identify target agencies and key opportunities to drive business growth. 
  • Work with Federal focused VARs, distributors and SIs to develop relationships and commitment for mutual business development 
  • Stay informed about market trends, competitive landscape, and federal procurement policies to adjust strategies as needed.  
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of compelling proposals, bids, and RFP responses. 
  • Meet and exceed federal sales revenue targets. 
  • Develop and manage the federal sales budget, including forecasting and financial reporting. 
  • Implement effective sales processes and utilize tools to monitor and report on sales performance and pipeline. 
  • Work closely with marketing, product development, and customer support teams to ensure alignment with federal sales objectives. 
  • Communicate sales performance, market insights, and strategic recommendations to the executive leadership team.
